M.A.S.H. star reflects on interesting twists in life

It seems that some of showbiz' most famous people have come from shaky starts. Alan Alda is one such man. His early days as a child of Vaudville exposed him to a lifestyle that made him resiliant, witty, able to make firm career decisions, more interesting and ultimately more successful.
If you are looking for Hawk-Eye, you've found the man behind the lense, with a depth of character that shows what was beneath the comical lines. This is the man who had written into his contract that every M.A.S.H. episode contain a surgical scene, making it more than just another comedy.
The writing is superb, the photos interesting. His love of his family is obvious, as is his understanding of mental illness and other cultural issues that we understand better today.
A man ahead of his time, this is a great read for the fan, or the fan yet to be.

Why couldn't I get the 2 book set (signed by Alan Alda) as advertised?

I was greatly disappointed that when I placed the order, it was supposed to be a two book set signed by Alan Alda. What I received was ONE book (unsigned), "Never Have Your Dog stuffed...". When I called to complain, I was referred to the agent involved. The lady in charge apologized profusely and said I could keep the book at no cost. Great! But where is the order I placed and REALLY WANTED? It seems to no longer be available. I consider this as close to false advertising as you can get without going overboard.
What a catastrophy! My faith in Amazon was shattered. It will take some time before I can again feel comfortable ordering from Amazon. In any case, being stupid, I would gladly pay for the order I originally placed (2 signed books). Well??
