and feel a little like I came into the story when the stage was ...

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I was unaware that this was part of a series, and feel a little like I came into the story when the stage was already set.
I wasnt sure what to expect and not having read the first book, I felt like I wasn't really clear on who the characters were...or more to the point, why they did and said what they did.
Reading the Amazon blurb helped me to understand "the story so far"
I initially found Brooke way over the top. This is not the story of the good girl next door fallng for the womanizing , smart as a whip and sincerely loving rock star, but of broken people who find each other almost against their wills and fight being together. The characterizations grow as the book progresses and my guess is that the first and third books in the series greatly clarify the characters in a Noah's ark "two by two" fashion.
Brooke and Leo come from basically unhappy places without strong suppport systems.
Brooke is fresh out of rehab., an alcoholic and a sex-addict. Leo is the band guitarist who relentlessly pursues Brooke , whom he calls wildchild with good reason. He is truly a man-child, not educated and not terribly bright or aware in some spheres but spot-on in understanding , loving and being there for Brooke. They have great chemistryand his pursuit of Brooke takes their story to a higher level.
While it's a stand-alone, I think the details that go into making a great story are probably found here and there in what will be a series
The book epitomizes what I dislike about series. I didn't read the first book, and I fully expect there will be a third book... and that altogether they would have made ONE great book.

A great read...

I have read some many wonderful books by this amazing author and all her work that I have read has been fabulous! I extremely enjoyed Sometimes Brooke. We first meet Brooke in Always Rayne ( the first book in this series which can be pretty much read as a standalone but I'm sure once you read one you'll want to read them all.) She was the fun best friend to the main character Harper. Brooke may have been a wildchild when we first meet her but in her story she is trying to change a few things and become someone she likes. It becomes a challenge for her when Leo ( this total hot rocker) makes things a little more complicated for her. Although he seems to challenge all she is trying to change in the end it all seems to come together for the better. I love Brooke and Leo together. Leo is super sweet and loving and he has so much love for brooke. I was really happy with how the book ended it made the story complete.I wished the book never ended but I'm also glad it did because I'm looking forward to the third book in the series and I can't wait to get my hands in a copy to read!! I would suggest you read Sometimes Brooke ( also Always Rayne) today you wont regret it!! :D

A hidden gem not to be missed

This is the first book I've read my Sierra and am looking forward to reading more.
I loved Brooke and Leo. Their dynamic was unlike anything that I've read in a while. Brooke just got out of rehab...for multiple addictions. With her sense of humor, you don't know if she's serious or joking half the time, but it made the character more realistic and likable. Leo might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he has a huge heart and is loyal to a fault.
In Leo's mind, Brooke is the one that got away. He comes off as cocky and arrogant at first, but we soon learn of his vulnerable side. Brooke doesn't want to get involved and is actually afraid of relapse, but she's got a soft spot for Leo that she just doesn't want to admit to. These 2 are perfectly imperfect and fit beautifully together.
I was surprised at how much of a page turner this one was. I was sorry to see it end, and I was left wishing it didn't. If you're on the fence about the book or series, pick it up. You won't be disappointed.
